Mental Health Awareness

Mental health is vital to overall well-being but is often overlooked. We Care CBO has been leading efforts to raise awareness, break stigma, and promote mental health through community engagement and inclusive programs. Since its founding, the organization has focused on improving mental well-being at the grassroots level with tailored interventions that address local mental health challenges.

Why Mental Health Awareness Matters
Mental health issues affect individuals and communities globally, yet they are often shrouded in stigma, leaving many to suffer in silence. We Care CBO understands that creating safe spaces, raising awareness and fostering open dialogue are key to addressing the root causes of mental health problems. The organization’s mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or ability, has access to mental health resources and support. We Care CBO’s efforts center on building resilient communities, empowering youth and promoting inclusive health interventions. Through the use of participatory activities, such as the problem tree analysis, theatre performances and safe space discussions, We Care CBO has fostered a culture of mental wellness, engagement and inclusion.

Key Community Initiatives

Step One of Mental Health Wellbeing at Yago Integrated Youth Safe Space (May 2022)

In May 2022, We Care CBO facilitated a mental health wellbeing session for community youth at the Yago Integrated Youth Safe Space. Using the problem tree analysis method, participants were able to identify root causes of mental health issues in their community. This interactive session not only raised awareness but also empowered young people to think critically about the factors that contribute to mental health challenges, such as unemployment, peer pressure and social isolation. The session laid the groundwork for future mental health interventions and fostered a sense of ownership among the youth.

By engaging the community through theatre performances, We Care CBO has successfully communicated key messages about mental health, inclusion, and well-being. Safe Space Discussions on Anxiety Disorders

We Care CBO understands the importance of addressing specific mental health issues, such as anxiety disorders, within the community. Through safe space discussions, the organization has provided a supportive environment for youth to discuss their experiences with anxiety, share coping strategies, and receive guidance on how to manage their mental health. These discussions help normalize conversations about anxiety and encourage individuals to seek help when needed, creating a more informed and supportive community.
